Range Rules

SHOOTING HOURS ARE 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, EXCEPT FOR ONE DAY A WEEK.  THE CLUB WILL BE CLOSED WEDNESDAYS.

GENERAL RULES

  1. This gun club is for the use of members and guests. Guests must be accompanied by a member unless at open shoots. Members should carry their membership card for proof of waiver completion.
  2. No alcoholic beverages, illegal, or recreation drugs are permitted on any of the firing ranges.  Smoking or drinking while on the firing line is prohibited.
  3. All shooting must be done from designated areas.
  4. All firearms must be unloaded, detachable magazines removed and actions opened on all guns during cease fire or transport.
  5. During a cease fire, place your weapons on the bench and stand back away from the benches.
  6. Do not attach targets to frames or posts, use backboards only.
  7. Illegal firearms are not allowed on any of the ranges.
  8. No armor piercing or tracer rounds allowed on the premises.
  9. Paper or soft targets only, no metal targets will be brought in by members.
  10. Be considerate of your fellow shooters and if you make any kind of a mess, CLEAN IT UP!   Targets will be removed by the shooter at the end of his/her shooting.
  11. Shooters are required to wear eye and ear protection.
  12. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

SAFETY RULES FOR TRAP AND SKEET FACILITIES

  1. Obey range rules and commands at all times—immediately.
  2. In the event of a malfunction, when a live round remains in the gun, the shooter must keep the gun pointed in a safe direction and seek assistance. All shooting on affected field ceases until the condition has been corrected. In case of a hang fire or misfire, do not open the gun for at least 30 seconds.
  3. Only firearms designed to use shot shells and designed to be fired from the shoulder are permitted.
  4. Novice shooters must be accompanied by an experienced shooter at all times.
  5. Except for patterning, all shooting must be at clay targets thrown from approved machines.  Patterning must be restricted to a separate area.
  6. Guns must be unloaded and the actions kept open at all times except when the shooter is on a firing station. Loading is permitted only when it is the shooter’s turn to shoot. Break action shotguns may be closed for storage in a gun case or rack, but must be opened immediately upon removal from the rack or case.
  7. All firearms must be opened immediately after shooting and before the shooter turns to leave the shooting station.
  8. Only one shell is loaded at a time on the trap field unless doubles are thrown.
  9. Picking up empty shot shells during a round of shooting trap is prohibited.
  10. No one is allowed past the firing line or the most forward shooting position at any time while the field is in use. When shooting skeet no one is allowed to enter the field past the high house or the opening in the low house when live firing is underway.
  11. Shot sizes are limited to a maximum of No. 7 ½.
  12. The practice of tracking targets with an unloaded gun is prohibited, unless the shooter is on a station and ready to shoot.
  13. Shooters are required to wear eye and ear protection.
  14. Smoking is prohibited except in designated areas.

RIFLE AND PISTOL RANGE RULES

  1. Obey range rules and commands at all times—immediately.
  2. Novice shooters must be accompanied by an experienced shooter at all times.
  3. Do not go forward from the firing line unless a ceasefire is called and the range is declared safe.
  4. Shooters are required to wear eye and ear protection.
  5. No live firing is allowed closer than 7 yards from a backstop or impact berm.
  6. Shooters must clean up their assigned area after firing is complete and place refuse or brass in designated containers. When at all possible, pack out all your garbage.
  7. Except when engaged in a shoot, all firearms must be unloaded, holstered or cased, hammer fully down and magazines removed from semi-automatics.
  8. Do not attach targets to frames or posts, use backboards only.
  9. Illegal firearms are not allowed on any of the ranges.
  10. No armor piercing or tracer rounds allowed on the premises.
  11. Paper or soft targets only, no metal targets will be brought in by members.
  12.   13. Bump firing and quick draw firing is prohibited.
  14. Members entering the club on weekdays are required to relock the gate after entry.
  15. Smoking is prohibited except in designated areas.

SAFETY RULES FOR MUZZLE LOADER RIFLES

  1. Obey range rules and commands at all times—immediately.
  2. Smoking is prohibited except in designated areas.
  3. Firing a muzzle loading firearm over or near a loading bench is prohibited.
  4. Load muzzle loading firearms only with black powder or a black powder substitute.
  5. Do not prime or cap any muzzle loading firearm until in position on the firing line and until after the command “Commence Firing”.  (Defined as “Fire When Ready”)
  6. Once a muzzle loading firearm is primed or capped, the muzzle must be pointed at the target area.
  7. In the event of a hang fire, keep the firearm pointed down range for at least one minute then notify a range officer.
  8. Shooters are required to wear eye and ear protection.
  9. Do not attach targets to frames or posts, use backboards only.
  10. Illegal firearms are not allowed on any of the ranges.
  11. Paper or soft targets only, no metal targets will be brought in by members.

VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP
